Irish Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty Implementation Plan through Digital Services and Smart City Solutions in Dublin City Council

The Smart Cities Unit and the Digital Services team in Dublin City Council have developed one of the first implementation plans for mainstreaming human rights through the delivery and use of digital services in Dublin. This implementation plan for the Irish Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty highlights five equality and human rights value statements as key focus areas to use when examining and deciding to deploy digital services and smart technologies in the city

Case Study: Dublin City Council Telecoms Unit – World Economic Forum

Dublin City Council established a “Telecoms Unit” in April 2022 to centralize and consolidate functions relevant to telecommunications and digital infrastructure into a dedicated unit within the City Council. The unit is a one-stop-shop for all telecoms related activities, providing a single point of contact for citizens, industry and other public bodies to engage with. It is responsible for developing and executing Dublin City Council’s telecoms strategy and supporting the rollout of digital infrastructure
